Face to Face IV: The housing issue
Talk: 11.11.2013 // 7 p.m.  // DAZ, Köpenicker Straße 48/49, 10179 Berlin

4. Conversation in the series "Face to Face:Conversations on and around architecture, space and society" curated by Francesca Ferguson (Urban Drift Projects).

Face to Face is a series of in-depth, unmoderated dialogues between architects based in Germany and a conversation partner of their choice. The goal of each conversation is to dig deep into concepts, research and working philosophies that define each hosts’ current practice.

Space is a rare resource in German cities! Residential space in particular. Politics has caught up with the issue: in the coming years, hundreds of thousands, even millions of new apartments will be built throughout Germany. This will have a decisive influence on the appearance and the organisation of our cities, and will determine anew how we live together. Vanessa Miriam Carlow, architect and urban planner, will discuss with Stefanie Frensch, CEO of one of the strongest municipal housing associations in Berlin (HOWOGE), the strategies and tools for maintaining and creating affordable housing. The conversation embraces the current social and ethical visions for solving the housing issue, and will examine the way in which cities worldwide tackle these.Language: German. Refreshments and conversations will follow.

"Face to Face" is supported by the Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Bau und Stadtentwicklung, Aco, Clestra, Fritz Hansen, Kvadrat, Epson, Stiebel Eltron and Viessmann.
