Book release: 6.3.2014 // 7 pm // DAZ, Berlin

Superkilen, designed by BIG, TOPOTEK 1 and SUPERFLEX, is a long urban space wedging through one of the most ethnically diverse, and socially challenged neighbourhoods in Denmark. The wedge (in Danish: kilen) is structured along three spatial zones (Red Square, Black Market and Green Park) and populated by 108 objects and 11 species of trees from all over the world. Since its inception, Superkilen has been widely and controversially debated. The book invites readers behind the scenes of its making through the reflections of its main protagonists. It discusses the implications of the project in relation to changes in the conception of public space, places emphasis on urban planning, modes of participation and collaboration, and discusses the possibilities of a shared, yet heterogeneous space.
At the DAZ, editor Barbara Steiner and graphic designer Rasmus Koch present the book and discuss with artist Jakob Fenger (SUPERFLEX), architect Nanna Gyldholm Møller (BIG) and landscape architect Martin Rein-Cano (TOPOTEK 1), moderated by DAZ curator Matthias Böttger.
