Ulrike und Tobias Bucher
When the Bucher family renovated their late seventeenth century home they succeeded to chance it into a low energy house despite its age. They rebuilt the roof, windows, flooring and heating, added solar power and adapted the water system. Their efforts have resulted in a 99% reduction in their domestic carbon footprint and have earned them the title of Germany’s Energy-saving Masters 2007.
Tobias Bucher has now retrained as an energy advisor and has set up a website documenting the renovation process to help and encourage others who want to follow suit.
